Storytelling is a celebration of life. It is the oldest of the arts; it awakens and nourishes both the imagination and the creative spirit. Ruth Sawyer, a great American storyteller, writes, “To be a good storyteller, one must be gloriously alive. It is not possible to kindle fresh fires from burned-out embers. The best storytellers whom I have heard have been those who live close to the heart of things.”
Jeff Stockton is such a storyteller. Whether in the concert hall, the boardroom, or the school gymnasium, the listeners are spellbound. The magic of story is woven upon the strings of the Celtic harp - with brilliant timing and strong rapport with the listeners. His repertoire is extensive, replete with hundreds of myths, legends and folk tales from around the world.
Jeff teaches workshops for storytellers young and young-at-heart in both the oral and digital realms of storytelling. He has worked in the field of education for twenty years as teacher, consultant, and storyteller, and is at ease with audiences of all ages. He works extensively as a storyteller in residence in schools.
To follow up the recently released CD "Wisdom of the Woods', Jeff is in the development stage of a collection of stories for the upcoming recording 'Once Upon A Midwinter.' He is also at work on an illustrated book & audio project - capturing some of the many family stories of the "Misadventures of Carmen and Jeff" that he has told to audiences over the past decade.
